Bonnie Tyler, "More Than a Lover"
Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 1:51AM From her 1977 album The World Starts Tonight. Listening to Bonnie Tyler is like making a promise to myself I cannot keep: she brings out a person in me that is more valiant, more heartened, much more stronger than I usually regard myself to be. She empowers me in a certain sense, she prostrates me in another. I put fifteen of her songs in my music player and walked from Liverpool to High Holborn. I needed to walk, to dissipate the thoughts crowding my brains. And I blew my hair in the wind, and I fell like leaves. And I never felt any better.
Blown in the breeze, falling like leaves
Give me a chance to recover
Deep in your eyes, half of me lies
Let me be more than a lover
Let me be more than a lover
Oh, let it be known, you're my heart, you're my home
You're the world that I wanna discover
All I can give is the way that I live
And I wanna be more than a lover
Oh, let me be more than a lover
Lovers are like stars in the night
Never quite touching each other
Deep in your eyes, half of me lies
Let me be more than a lover
Let me be more than a lover
